Five-year survival after retroperitoneal oncologic resection with and without vascular surgeon intervention
CONCLUSIONS: Planned intervention of vascular surgeons in retroperitoneal tumor resection may have a positive impact not only in trans-operatory period, but also on long-term survival.PMID:35492002 | DOI:10.1177/17085381221093855

The Three-Dimensional Job Search
When most nurse job-seekers are in the market for a new nursing position, their job search process can be somewhat one-dimensional. From my perspective, a three-dimensional job search strategy is generally much more effective. And when it comes to career development, it ' s the same thing. One-dimensionsality breeds one-dimensional results -- why not try something more powerful? The One-Dimensional Job SearchIn a one-dimensional job search process, it kind of looks like this: you get up in the morning, make a cup of coffee, eat breakfast, and open your computer. You then peruse job boards like Indeed and Monster looking for...

Peripheral artery disease in outpatients with a recent history of acute coronary syndrome or at high atherothrombotic risk.
CONCLUSIONS: Subclinical PAD is more common than symptomatic claudication in high-risk coronary outpatients. Low ABI is associated with reduced short-term survival in patients with recent ACS or at high coronary risk. PMID: 32638661 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Prevalence and variables associated with an abnormal ankle-brachial index among patients with human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.
Conclusions Abnormal ankle-brachial index seems to be more frequent in Mexican patients with human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome when compared with the general population at the same age. The most important factors associated with arterial disease were the viral load and the number of years with human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Anti-vascular endothelial growth factors in combination with vitrectomy for complications of proliferative diabetic retinopathy
CONCLUSIONS: The perioperative use of anti-VEGF reduces the risk of late POVCH, probably results in lower early POVCH risk and may improve visual outcomes. It also reduces the incidence of intraoperative retinal breaks. The evidence is very uncertain about its effect on the need for silicone oil tamponade. The reported complications from its use appear to be low. Agreement on variables included and outcome standardisation is required in trials studying vitrectomy for PDR.PMID:37260074 | PMC:PMC10230853 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD008214.pub4

Economic burden of respiratory syncytial and parainfluenza viruses in children of upper-middle-income countries: a systematic review
CONCLUSION: The present study highlighted how RSV infection represents a substantial economic burden to health care systems and to society. The findings of the included studies suggest a possible association between baseline risk status and expenditures. Moreover, it was observed that an important amount of the cost is destinated to treatments that have no evidence or support in most clinical practice guidelines.PMID:37247828 | DOI:10.1016/j.jped.2023.05.003
